You get quite a lot of that sort of thing here in the UK. Horses are a fairly common sight on B-roads.

True. You do see them in more built-up areas, too, but geographical differences between the US and UK - there's no true 'wilderness' in the UK, and even in the middle of a big town, you're minutes from the countryside - do make the appearance of a horse in the middle of a city in the US rather baffling, relatively speaking.
(I'm really not sure that paragraph actually meant... Anything... But I'm gonna run with it.)
